Infinite Staircase
The Infinite Staircase used to be the means by which those of different worlds could visit Ysgard and those of Ysgard could return the favour. As more than one portal linked the Infinite Staircase with Ysgard it was also an alternate route between some destinations within Ysgard.
Rather than the single staircase the name suggests this was a series of smaller staircases linked by platforms over seemingly infinite depths, and rather than infinite the section that could be walked was bounded by the portal to Rockgate at the top and the Argentile Palace of Selune at the bottom. It was in the latter that one cleric found a set of journals he had lost elsewhere on the Infinite Staircase, which did imply that someone capable of flight might have been able to simply fly up or down past the platforms rather than climb.
It is unclear why the portals to the Infinite Staircase became unavailable through the route to them being blocked or them simply becoming inactive but this was balanced by new routes becoming available through Sigil or the platforms of Yggdrasil.
