These woods were long cursed by the presence of the lair of the Fey Queen Gulliveg at their centre. When the magical artifact that allowed her to perform necromancy, despite the positive energies of Ysgard being hostile to undead, was destroyed and she teleported her entire lair to the [[Valley of Death]] this left a hole that rapidly filled with water to form a pond. Over the course of the months and years since then Druids and Rangers have worked to clear the lingering taint, but the wildlife of the woods is still quite hostile so caution is advised if you enter.
